What are the benefits of using Sound vibrations as medicine? 

Using musical instruments & vocal toning's is an ancient meditative practice to create healing vibrations around the body. 

Sound can have a positive & a negative effect upon the body, mind & spirit - manifesting both harmony & discourse. 

We experience sound not only through our ears but through our whole body via the fluid filled ducts in the ear drum plus the "waters" within our bodies. 

Sound has the power to shift frequencies within us from a lower energy vibration (like guilt & fear) to a higher energy vibration of love & joy. 

Sound healing is the use of instruments or voice to release & balance the energy system to induce a state of ease & harmony.

CHANGE IN BRAIN WAVES WHICH OCCUR WHEN WE LISTEN TO SOUND FREQUENCIES

  • DELTA PATTERN: up to 4 Hz - dreamless sleep
  • THETA PATTERN: 4 - 7 Hz deep improved meditation, creativity & REM sleep phase
  • ALPHA PATTERN: 8 - 12 Hz encourages relaxation
  • BETA PATTERN: 13 - 24 Hz promotes concentration & a state of alertness. The awake state. Can increase anxiety if at higher end of range
  • GAMMA PATTERN: 25 - 100 Hz - promotes arousal while person is awake, heightened sense of consciousness

Tina draws on her experience as a yoga teacher, vocalist & sound healing guide to help the body & mind to shift from the beta state (alert) to an alpha state (relaxed) or even a theta (meditative) & delta state – which is similar to a deep sleep where restoration occurs.


Feelings of relaxation & meditation come easily with this form of Yoga which is called Nada Yoga (the Yoga of Sound) which incorporates mantra, sound, pranayama (extension of life force – breath) & mindfulness.
 

Mantras are transcendental sound vibrations that help to clear & balance the energy centres & systems of the body. Tina uses instruments such as crystal singing bowls, Koshi chimes, Equilibrium chimes & her voice help aid in the depth of relaxation acquired.
